Can investors hold Mercia EIS investments within a Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP)?

A SIPP can hold the portfolio company shares in which the Mercia EIS invests into, and hence access the venture capital asset class, however the SIPP itself will not benefit from the EIS tax reliefs.
